Is there a way to remove the "anonymous hatemonger" from AOL Answers?

So far this rather deranged person seems to believe that every well informed or sensible person is Rocmike3, and posts sheer venom everywhere. Such a deranged person cannot add to a mature or worthwhile discussion.

These posts add nothing but hate and are obviously intended to shut down AOL Answers.

If there were a way to delete them we could restore AOL Answers to its proper place as an exchange venue for useful information.

Bedtime stories to tell the kids . . . ....

If you tell the kids about the other side of the evening news they saw over dinner in the front room, that will scare them out of a night's sleep, force them to barricade themselves in, and take out lifetime subscriptions to Soldier of Fortune magazine.

Kids deserve something fun, restful, and calming at bedtime.

If nothing else will get them in the mood for sleep it has to be machinery's Handbook or FAA Airframe and Powerplant Regulations parts 31-37.

Of course if they are scheduled for an airline flight in the next few days that may give them panic attacks and they will demand to travel by ANY safer means.

Who could blame them?

What stories do you tell your kids to assure they get a good night's sleep?

Can anyone please describe a Gnarf?

I keep hearing about Gnarfs when people drop things on their feet. They say "Gnarf" (if not something slightly worse). If anyone has a good description of a Gnarf, I'd like to know what it is.

Did Obama's supporters think it through?

It is one thing to speak extemporaneously, and need to take a moment to consider a logical reply. It is another to back a gibbering moron who only embarrasses himself at the podium -- time and again.

Whoever thought Obama had a brain must now reconsider when they see how Obama delivers public addresses.

This is what the world sees as our ultimate representative. I assure, most of us go to the podium with a good idea what we will say and will have checked the facts.

Did you want to be represented by a guy who can't make up his mind, stammers, and contradicts himself speech to speech?

How do you deal with plagiarism?

Here, we have a very strict rule in all our communication: due accreditation and full bibliography in all work considered for publication. We also do a thorough patent search to assure that our work is original and salable. Before publication we get an ISBN on every published manual and a patent on all our developed products.

In my end of the company, we do service manuals and test procedures for aircraft. If that requirement came from the FAA, we say so. If it is part of the proprietary data we earned in flight test, know that it was expensive and a test pilot had to take his life in his hands to evaluate the characteristics of that aircraft.

When that data comes up in some bush league spin off company, re-phrased slightly from our work, litigation is swift and certain but we rarely get anything back but reams of inaccurate copy that we will shred.

It is a serious enough problem to merit prompt action. I have just about had it with rip-offs plagiarizing out technical manuals, sometimes with our logo. It is as much a safety issue as one of copyright ownership.

Who would you nominate for the Nobel Prize, in what categories and why?

Categories:

Peace, Literature, Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Economics.

The awards have been made, all to the most deserving persons. However, there are many great minds who have done what many considered impossible.

Let's also throw open the categories to discussion. There have been many Nobel-level acheivements in other areas also, and these great minds deserve some recognition also.

To initiate the discussion, let us consider our own category: transportation safety.

I would nominate Leonard Ambrose of Boeing Aerospace, Seattle/Everett, for his work in survivability in airplane crashes. Ambrose' team of thirty eight professionals found a way to keep fuel from igniting spontaneously on impact in a crash. They proposed a reinforced aramid bladder with aluminum alloy spark arrestors inside all fuel tanks that will withstand a crash at .932 Mach.
