Cumulus Media’s news/talk KLIF-AM (570) Dallas is adjusting its format to all-news in mornings, anchored by Amy Chodroff from sister WBAP-AM (820) with Dave Williams, formerly of Merlin’s WIQI-FM (FM News 101.1 Chicago). That pushes local morning talker Jeff Bolton off the schedule. All-news will also occupy 4-7pm, sending talker Chris Krok into evenings. 10 a.m.-1 p.m. is manned by talker Glenn Beck, 1-4 p.m. is Dave Ramsey. There will also be more frequent news drop-ins, even during midday talk shows.

KLIF’s three-month trend with 6+ AQH shares in the Arbitron PPMs was 0.4-0.5-0.7. The Cumulus strategy is apparently aimed at CBS Radio’s news KRLD-AM (1080), which offers news 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. and talk the rest of the time. KRLD’s three-month trend-line is 1.9-2.3-2.5. The Dallas Board of Radio-Info.com is talking about KLIF, here.

After many, many years, I'll be finding another station to listen to since Jeff Bolton is no longer on. I really miss the customary format of discussion of local and national issues and anybody being able to call in and give their viewpoint. KLIF is just another politically correct broadcasting station. I won't be listening anymore.

I, like many others commenting, am greatly disappointed that KLIF, dropped Jeff Bolton's segment. Jeff's defense of American values was inspiring to listen to. I have now switched to KSKY's programming to find acceptable conservative talk radio.

Jeff Bolton was great. I was a huge fan, and had gotten to a point where I really looked forward to his program each morning. I feel a bit like a mental case saying this, but it was the first time I lost a disc jockey and actually went through, and am still going through withdrawals. I just think he is really special. No, I didn't always agree with Jeff, but if liberals would take the same approach with us conservatives as he did libs we would have a much less hate in this world. Jeff was the best at his approach to respecting someone's opinion he disagreed with. Yes, he made mistakes but what I mostly liked was Jeff is HUMAN.. and he was always accountable. I also miss Val.. they were perfect together. KLIF sucks now... I am over on WBAP pouting like a kid... lol. God Bless our Troops and if you need a job please check out my new job board. If not lets all pray for Jeff and his family. He and his kids are the exact age as me and my kids so I was able to relate big time. Sorry to ramble but miss the callers too.

Even though I live in Austin, I looked forward to listening to Jeff Bolton in the mornings on my drive to work. Because of some politically correct decision by a bunch of corporate hacks, I have had to move away from KLIF (for good!). Get a clue, people! We really are thinking people, whether you believe it or not, and you've consistently taken every good host off the air to appease the left! So long and good riddance!

klif just went off the cliff. Bolton was the best morning show. Beck was the best midday show. Rusty at night and coast to coast ruled midnights. Now klif sucks and is not on my presets.

Without a doubt this is an attack on conservative talk radion by Cumulus. I wouldn't be surprised if all of their management had Obama bumper stickers on their cars. Chris Krok better call Zerorez out to clean his carpets, his house will probably be on the market soon. Finally, they replaced Rusty Humphries with John Bachelor, that sums it up pretty well

I "changed the channel". I have been a faithful KLIF listener for a number of years...but after Darrell Ankaro, Greg Knapp, JD Wells...and now Jeff Bolton....it was time to know longer give the managment at this radio station my time. These companies demand loyalty from their employees....and yet show no loyalty themselves...to their employees...or there listeners. At least I can listen to KSKY 660, JD Wells (The Wekks Report) in the afternoon...but there is nothing in the morning. I also have told there sponsors that as long as they advertize with KLIF they will no longer have my patronage.

Now that you are just like several other stations & often re-run news hour by hour, I have more time to listen to the Musers (1310) or AFA (90.5), or watch HLN CNN & Fox until 10AM when I return for Beck & Ramsey. This also allows me to catch Mark Davis who at least takes calls from listeners. (Sure will miss hearing pithy listener comments from people I would have liked to have met at a Bolton live event.) I still tune out for Kroc (your new ad touts less screaming, but maybe you just mean mornings). You have saved me from the ADL I used to be. I do wonder where FOX NEWS reports are - your ABC news breaks are redundant to WBAP. Except for Beck, I could reduce the station choices in my car pre-sets. (Still wish we could hear him live, but I suppose you are trying to deliver traffic b/t 8:00 & 10:00?)

Amen about Jeff Bolton. I am just sick. I started listening every morning a few years back. Great guy. We are the same age, both been married 21 years, and both have 2 kids (one of each almost the exact same age). Needless to say I could relate to him big time, and agreed with most of his views. I hate KLIF and took it off my dial. I am livid to say the least. God Bless the Bolton family. Jeff will be back somewhere. He is too good not to.

Big mistake in my book. I've hung in there for 10 years, through Greg Knapp, Daryll Ankarlo, JD Wells and Jeff Bolton. I didn't like seeing each of them go but the next guy ended up being alright. I can't take the new morning news. There is no personality. Its just non stop news rant. I'm exploring my options with WBAP, and KSKY. I'm through with KLIF.

Monday morning, March 26th, ready for the drive to work, some intelligent, thought-provoking, and sometimes just provoking conversation between Jeff Bolton and the callers-in, and what do I hear? Firstly a lot of amped up noise and self promotion, and then about 12 minutes of adverts, hype about "news/talk," and not much else. Peeved much? Driven by the almighty dollar, the bilge of "ratings,",and absolutely blind to the impact on the local listeners, KLIF has lost my listening patronage in the morning drive time. Put THAT in your ratings pipe and smoke it!

Wow, what happened to KLIF? I enjoyed listening to the local talk shows talking about the local issues and getting the listener's opinions. Now...it's just constant news. On the first day they changed the format, I heard the same stories over and over on the way to work. I was literally in a bad mood by the time I got to work listening to all the depressing stories over and over. I haven't turned 570 back on since.

I have to agree with all the posts here and would add that this poorly designed/thought through concept is ultimately going to lead to Amy Chodroff losing her job some point down the road. AM 570 = where popular local radio personalities go to eventually get fired. Note to perspective AM drive time personalities: If you want to avoid getting fired at some point for someone else's decisions other than your own, the don't go over the KLIF.

If I wanted all news, I would listen to WBAP. I think Bolton was a much more informed and better talk show host than Krok. And I have to say I miss Ankarlo too and never have really understood what his firing was all about. This is a bad business decision and I think they will regret it down the line. Cumulus needs to let formats endure. Now watch them say the news format failed and bring in some uber liberal talker. At that point, I will remove them from my presets.

I have to agree with all of the above. I liked Jeff Bolton to start the day. For one, he was only talk show host that welcomes people that disagree with him and is always up for a friendly debate. If you want to switch the station around, get rid of Krock because if anyone disagrees with him at all, he will yell at them, insult them, and hang up without allowing them to get a word in edgewise. I'm still getting over all of my favorite shows being taken off of 105.3 in DFW, and switching to another sports station (we already had plenty of them)

KLIF doesn't care what anyone in the audience thinks. Jeff Bolton's show was giving the corporate string-pullers ulcers and they decided to get rid of him.

After the all blah-blah all the time show sinks in the ratings, it will change to all sports or all cooking or something else.

If one day you turn 570 and hear 24 hour mariachi music, don't be surprised. It's happened before.

I used to wake up to Jeff Bolton and the great "debate" on issues. Now I hear crap! I moved my pm radio to ksky when the Wells report moved now I will move my am listening as well. I think this was a very bad decision. When do the listeners matter? Miss you Jeff, and John David! Hello 660.

So why change the BEST talk-radio station(format) in north Texas? Perhaps kow-towing to the politically-correct left? There is no local Talk-radio station now in north Texas. I wasn't a big fan of Jeff Bolton but I listened anyway to hear about local issues and public opinion. Then I stayed tune to hear Glenn Beck at 10:00. Now I'll switch to Mark Davis on WBAP and catch Beck at 9:00 on my iphone, XM, or internet. If I wanted to be bored in the morning I'd listen to KERA. Or read The Dallas Morning News again.

The "news" I heard these dweebs talking about the other morning was a story about "Sugar the cat" (or something) that fell 19 floors out of a window & was able to walk away. You know, the 9 lives & all. Are you kidding me?!? This is their "news"? KLIF, you lost me after 9 years.
