Smoking, however, is still legal and causes cancer. Drinking alcohol causes hepatic cirrhosis and very painful death. Too much coffee is just as bad as excessive drinking.

The problem with "sustainable" agriculture is that it isn't sustainable. Soil that has been treated with large amounts of uncomposted manure is loaded with strep, staph, e.coli, and much worse. Some of these germs can be used in biological warfare. Properly used, chemical fertilizers are safe and effective.

Using herbicides to kill off toxic weeds of course is a benefit to the whole community. Wolfbane, henbane, hemlock, foxglove, and thousands more, are so poisonous that half a teaspoon is lethal. Killing those weeds with roundup is an essential safety measure especially if there are children who might accidentally eat these pretty but poison plants.

RE: Do pesticides only cause cancer in children? by Wilbur Tanner

The Environmental Protection Agency determines the proper rates of application for all fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. When applied accordingly, there is no danger whatsoever. We have removed chemicals that will cause cancer. Mothballs that are currently on the market repel moths but will not hurt you. They still smell bad but they won't hurt you.
