And if you have a P-trap under the sink, make sure you don't plumb it so that it also runs through the washer's P-trap. Every drain should run through exactly one P-trap. <p>You don't have to put it in the wall. But make sure it's high enough off the floor so it doesn't overflow. A foot off the floor is not high enough.
