If it is a new puppy being shipped to you, first off the stress of travel could give it diahrea, so be aware it does not necessarily mean the dog is sick, its just stress. Also ask the breeder  or previous owner what brand of dog food the pup was eating, you do not  want to switch foods the day it arrives because that will also give diahrea. introduce the pup to the family and new home, let it become comfortable.
